How the mighty have fallen... after winning my first game of Das Amulett last week, I played twice in a row this week and came in dead last both times. It's easy to brain fart in this game and forget about some important spell someone has in effect. Lots of fun stuff going on... check it out. Despite my pathetic results this week, I want to play this some more. It's been a while since I've enjoyed a game like this so much (by which I mean a game with lots of wacky changing special effects, analogous to Magic the Gathering). Although it takes a little while to explain the rules and grok the first time you play, with people who've played before it seems to go pretty quickly. Also it seems to go quickly with smaller number of players.

Meta Game

Matt was the Meta Devil. Here is the Meta Game he mailed out:

THE BRING MORE GAMES METAGAME

As if there weren't enough already, I've been longing for the days when there were many more games at Russ' to choose from.

Tomorrow night, you get points for bringing games to Russcon and leaving them there!

* One metapoint for each game you bring.
* One bonus metapoint for each game you leave at Russ' place.

You can come and get them at anytime convenient to Russ, but to receive the bonus point, the game must remain at Russ' place when you leave for the evening tomorrow.

Ties will be broken at random.

Thanks (and apologies) in advance to Russ for giving up the extra space in his living room! :)

Sadly, it seems like Matt's Meta Game caused people to bring fewer games than normal. And Marty (aka That Guy Who Always Brings All Those Games) didn't even show up this week. But a notable exception was JimG who brought quite a few games (including not one but two copies of that Lifeboat game I found so disappointing). So Matt declared JimG the Meta Devil, and JimG will design next week's Meta Game!
