How the mighty have fallen... after winning my first game of Das Amulett last week, I played twice in a row this week and came in dead last both times. It's easy to brain fart in this game and forget about some important spell someone has in effect. Lots of fun stuff going on... check it out. Despite my pathetic results this week, I want to play this some more. It's been a while since I've enjoyed a game like this so much (by which I mean a game with lots of wacky changing special effects, analogous to Magic the Gathering). Although it takes a little while to explain the rules and grok the first time you play, with people who've played before it seems to go pretty quickly. Also it seems to go quickly with smaller number of players.

Commentary from the International Candyland Tournament
"Sitting in his home office, Curtis knows he has it all. Even though Curtis is sitting in his home office, he can use the FireCracker software to turn on the radio in his bedroom, sending the sultry strains of his wife's favorite jazz station through the house. She can hear the music from the living room. She knows when he does this, it means he is done with work and ready to give her some attention. By the time she gets to the bedroom, he's turned off all the bedroom lights — all but the single, candle-like lamp by her pillow. Is this guy a good husband, or what?"
