Games with taxes included Hoax ("as the king, I declare a tax") and Guillotine (tax collector).
Whendy learned a valuable lesson about never giving up, convinced as she was that she was going to lose Carcassonne hideously (and then won), and lose Entdecker hideously (and then came in 2nd just a few points behind BobR).
Due to the low turnout, and choice of playing some long games (La Citta and Pig Pile), I ended up at loose ends for 2 hours, which was rather unusual... well, it gave me a head start on writing this week's RussCon Report, interrupted only by William surreally calling me downstairs to ask if I remembered the flash cartoon about the cow and the farmer, to which I said yes, and apparently that was all, so I came back up to type more of the report, rather bemused that I'd needed to be called downstairs just for that.
A reminder: please write and spell clearly when recording game results, make the scores and ranks clear, and remember last initials for people with common names, thanks! Oh, and it's useful to record the devil points also, in the case of this Cloud 9 game, which you won't see in the results table above for obvious reasons.
Meta Party GameI was the Meta Devil. Here is the Meta Party Game I mailed out:Earn a Meta Point each time you play a game that includes taxes! E.g. Monopoly. And I'm sure there are others, though I'm having a tough time thinking of any offhand -- if you have a game with taxes, bring it!Our Most Assiduous Readers Clay pointed out Hoax and Careers; RussD pointed out Kings + Castles; Squeaky pointed out Dune; JeffS pointed out The Great Dalmuti; Sea Biscuit pointed out Fluxx, Groo, and Cosmic Encounter. In fact we only played Hoax and Guillotine (which has a tax collector!) By my reckoning, here are the scores:
Whendy, BobR, and I tied, so breaking the tie randomly with my special Meta Game tie-breaking die from my original edition of TSR's Dungeon, I find that Whendy is the Meta Devil and will design next week's Meta Party Game! |
