4 more games of Tichu... it is rapidly climbing the RussCon popularity charts! Metro is continuing to prove popular as well.
Fortunately Carcassonne continues to be played. If it stops being played, the entropic heat death of the universe cannot be far behind.
Speaking of chaos, Sea Biscuit won our weekly Stephensons Rocket contest. What's up with that!?
Note the awesome flexible power of our ratings system, handling teams with differing numbers of players for Outburst II! Thanks again JeffF for updating the ratings software to handle teams a while back.
Confidential tip: be sure to play Save Dr Lucky with Whendy -- she really enjoys that game!
Meta Party Game ResultsPJ was the Meta Devil. Here is the Meta Party Game he emailed out:Bad is GoodI did indeed supply a table of the 100 most popular RussCon games as of the beginning of the evening's festivities. This chart shows a game's popularity rank, # times played, and title:
In hindsight, I wish I'd asked people to compute their own meta points for me. Failing that, I should have made PJ compute the meta points! Whendy is the Meta Devil, which should make her happy since she felt robbed by last week's meta technicality! Here are how the scores came out. If I made any mistakes, tough noogies. Note that JP & Brad played a game of go which would have made Brad the meta devil, but PJ ruled that non-RussCon-scoring games were not meta-eligible either. But Brad shouldn't feel too deprived.

Ennio Morricone, The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly
Nada Surf, Popular
Michael Nyman, Drowning by Numbers
Timbuk3, A Hundred Lovers
101-Xmas
Again a meta theme, albeit more free-association than normal. (For those who haven't seen the excellent Peter Greenaway film Drowning By Numbers, the numbers 1 through 100 are an important recurring motif.)

RussCon's favorite craftsman Dan Becker has outdone himself with his homemade glowing Sauron eye project! The final photo is truly awesome.
"It's only the wind" is a nice essay about government conspiracies.
I'm not entirely sure if this article about meat is for real or a spoof...
Those who are not Civil War buffs may not be aware that there were women who lived as men to fight as soldiers. Here's a Chicago Tribune article about an Illinois woman soldier who maintained her male identity for 50 years after the Civil War.
