News

We lost Sea Biscuit a month ago when he moved to San Francisco, and now we're losing Steve! This is sad! Steve's been a long-time regular attendee, and is now moving to Plano for an 18-month course in computer game development. Good luck Steve! And Marty is moving to Houston later this summer, but at least will be spending mid-weeks in Austin so will probably still come to some RussCons.

Man, I think I got my worst Blokus score ever. Fun game, though!

I got revenge on Brad later in the 2 games of Cathedral, confirming the obvious that an experienced player will beat a newbie in this good little game of pure strategy.

I've received a few emails about the new partial order graph, and people seem to like it. To answer a common question, I do not tell it the levels, the graphviz software does all the layout decisions. I just tell it the arrows between nodes. I will probably explore options and see if there are fun ways to vary the layout and whether the rigid rows of nodes are an intrinsic part of it or not.

This week's layout, with the rank and win ratings side by side as I usually do along with the image to the right of them probably is too wide for some people's screens, but I dunno.

Meta Game

I was the Meta Devil. Here is the Meta Game I mailed out:

   Yo cut it

   Soy un perdedor
   I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me?

Whoever ends up at the bottom of the partial order graph (i.e. no one below them) will be the Meta Devil. Ties broken in favor of lowest win rating, then lowest rank rating, then randomly.

JP and Clayton both ended up at the bottom, and JP's win rating is lowest, so JP is the Meta Devil and will design next week's Meta Game! Congratulations, loser!
