I did make it to Great Hall for Friday night gaming which I hadn't done for a while, which was good fun. I got 2 games of Carcassonne in. I'm also playing an email game of Carcassonne; someone saw my tile distribution and emailed me to ask if they could use the tiles I scanned, and invited me to play. It's fun, but quite different without all the tile kibbitzing.
The Magnificent Race is a nostalgia game from JeffF's childhood. Sea Biscuit won with his "mad automobile skillz". They made me write that. It also had a Black Baron NPC, Dastardly Dan.
Dicke Kartoffeln is a new game that appeared somewhat long and detailed about farming potatoes. I'm not kidding.
Blazing Camels was very lightweight, random, innocuous, and short. I have no desire to play it again.
I heard Devil Bunny Hates the Earth had great flavor text but wasn't as good as Devil Bunny Needs a Ham.
Rage is Yet Another Trick Taking Card Game that was fun, with special effect cards that can cancel or change trump for the rest of the hand. Like Instinct, you need to bid exactly how many tricks you'll take.
The Settlers Express (aka Settlers meets Dampfross) game from last week got played again, I see. Guess I'll have to try it again.
Meta Party Game ResultsRemi was the Meta Party Devil. Here is the Meta Party Game he emailed out: I can never find my way home from russcon. If I miss my boat, I can't leave. To give you a taste of my misery, as I won't be able to attend, tonight's meta-game will be 'Escape from Russcon'!As best we could reckon, there were just 2 titles played which qualified for the meta game: Carcassonne and By Hook or Crook. There was a tie in that Bob, Clay, Clayton, Steve, and I all played both of these titles, thus scoring 2 meta points. By the tie break scheme, Clay left earliest and is the Meta Devil next week and will email out the Meta Game! Scrabble, anyone? |
