Now playing: William Shakespeare's Memento.
Comicollage: daily ongoing comic jam with 7 artists and no planning ahead!

News

Memento is the movie to see, I'm telling you! Saw it a second time and it was quite good and interesting. Clever little references that make more sense the second time.

My printmaking class is almost over, which makes me sad since I'm enjoying it so much. I spent Saturday making 20 prints, 18 of them from a 2-plate relief project (the class is all exchanging self portrait prints), and that was fun. I also made a cool 2-plate portrait of Lincoln (one relief, one etching). I'll scan all this and put it up on the web.

I've been very busy lately, not just with work but also with printmaking, comics, etc., and I recently wrangled two different webcomic events, coordinating and creating links pages for Shakespeare's Birthday and Webcomics Awareness events. I'm now suffering event burnout....

Starting the evening with 6 Nimmt seems to be an entrenched tradition now!

carcassonneI got to play Carcassonne twice this evening. Rarely does life get so good. This was followed by the Carcassonnesque Entdecker, one of the earliest of my German game purchases. JP demolished us with a huge lead.

The new game Evo got several plays and is clearly popular.

Meta Party Game Results

I was the Meta Party Devil. Here is the Meta Party Game I emailed out:

A package has arrived from New York City! It's addressed to RussCon! It's from William! We know that William loves all kinds of things like cute weird food, cute games, cute toys, and cute Jimmy Pussymouth comic zines. What could be in the box? It's a mystery! Wrapped in a riddle! Wrapped in an enigma! Wrapped in a conundrum!

I have not opened the box. We will open it this coming RussCon at 9pm. Before then, anyone who wishes may look at the box and gently shake it and run it through their portable X-ray device and apply their psychic vision skills. Then write down on a paper what you think is in the box: food, game, toy, some combination, something else entirely? The more detail and accuracy, the better. Anyone forgetting to use the word "cute" in their description will certainly lower the chances of success.

At 9pm (or so) we'll open William's Mystery Box. The honor of opening the box will go to whoever most recently won a game at 9pm. If there's no obvious group consensus on the best answer, then I'll be the final arbiter. In any case, we'll all be winners, really, because I'm sure William must have sent something entertaining. If not, we can kick his ass or make him listen to bagpipes or something.

Daniel got the honors of opening the mystery box. (And he made the most entertaining, but inaccurate, guess about the contents: shattered dreams.) It turns out William sent RussCon a box full of weird Japanese candies of various types! Most of them seemed to taste, um, not good, but they were cute and funny!

Of the various guesses, 3 of them contained some accurate information (e.g. fruity candy); of those only one used the word "cute", so that pretty clearly broke the tie for me. WendyWhe is the Meta Party Devil next week. I'll be emailing out her meta party game at her request; she's already designed it but is going on a trip all next week.

Kara pulled a Brady Maneuver; you must play more than 1 game to be eligible as Devil. Steve is the Devil! JeffF is Vice-Devil.
