News

There's a new play from Rude Mechanicals, Requiem for Tesla. Music by Golden Arm Trio! This is probably going to be interesting; if anyone wants to see it with me, let me know. We've been muddling about with some folks not sure when they can, so I'm making a command decision that I'm seeing it next Saturday, March 3.

WendyWhe circulated old photos of me & Clayton from a decade ago, when both of us had, um, different hair.

carcassonneCarcassonne is again the popular game... There was a good close game where Wendy & I tied!

I lost all my game playing skills soon thereafter: middle of the pack in Guillotine, last place in Web of Power (just when I thought I was getting decent at it!), and ending Trainsport Austria with less money than I started thanks to my inexplicable and much ridiculed decision to build Switzerland routes right after JeffF.

I did however redeem myself with Bluff!

Meta Party Game Results

Daniel was the Meta Party Devil. Here is the meta party game he emailed out:

The Spy Game

A little ironic that I was thinking about this game, before the FBI announced that they had captured one of their own, but I do work with Counter Intelligence folk so here it is. The game begins at 8 o'clock. First everyone there will have written their name on 3 peices of paper. Then at 8 everyone draws a name and a word. The goal is to get the person you draw to say the word you draw. But here is where it gets tricky. You have to get them to say it without revealing the word, to include saying the word yourself. If someone guesses your word, or the person you are trying to get the word out of then you have to give them your word as a point. When you get them to say it, you show everyone you are playing with, score a Metapoint, and then draw a new name and a new word. If you fail to guess someone a second time you are out of the game. Also if you speak your own word you are caught for spying and shot for treason. The words will not be that difficult.

This was a tough game! E.g. my mission (should I choose to accept it) was to make Marty say "shine". I twice struck up conversation about the current movie Quills starring Geoffrey Rush, who was in that movie about the Australian pianist, what was the name of that movie again (and here Dan helpfully answers "Shine" for Marty, who can't remember). Very few people accomplished their mission, but Jeffles actually scored several points and so he is the undisputed Meta Party Devil who shall email out next week's Meta Party Game!

This help page actually was on the Microsoft website, according to a Microsoft employee who's a friend of my boss and forwarded along this copy. As of my typing this, there is indeed a link to it here at the Microsoft website. Act quickly! I doubt it will stay up for long!

Unity Games mailing list file area has lots of odd photos of meeples.

India Community Center has info about a fundraising event this Sunday at 4pm for earthquake victims. I might go, but I'm not sure.

My art page has a couple of my first 2 color relief prints from the printmaking class I'm in. I plan to visit the Printing Museum in Houston sometime -- my mom visited and said it's cool.
